Gear Guard Viewer

Privacy Policy

Effective October 5, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how CTT Apps LLC ("CTT Apps", "we", "us") handles information when you use Gear Guard Viewer, including the website at gear-guard-viewer.pages.dev and any related apps (together, the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to this policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

The short version

1. Information processed on your device

When you open a drive or folder, the Service reads your video files and the information inside them in your browser on your device. That includes timestamps, GPS location, your vehicle identification number (VIN, taken from folder names) and the video itself. This processing happens locally; we do not receive copies of your footage or this metadata.

The Service saves some things in your browser's storage (local storage and IndexedDB) so it can work for you, including:

This data stays in your browser until you clear it. Clearing your browser's site data for the Service deletes it. Note that third-party scripts that run on our pages (such as advertising and analytics scripts, described below) run in the same browser.

2. Information we and our partners collect

Advertising

The free version of the Service displays ads served by Google (Google AdSense) and other ad partners. Google and its partners may use cookies, web beacons, device identifiers and similar technologies to collect information such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, ad interactions, and approximate location. They use it to serve ads (including ads personalized to your interests), limit how often you see an ad, measure ad performance, and prevent fraud. Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites.

Pro users do not see ads, and ad scripts are not loaded for them.

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand overall traffic, such as page views, referring sites, and page performance. It does not use cookies or build profiles of individual visitors.

Hosting and security logs

Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes technical information about each request (such as IP address, browser user agent, and time of request) to deliver the site, keep it secure, and prevent abuse.

Purchases

Pro purchases are processed by Paddle (Paddle.com Market Limited and its affiliates), which acts as the merchant of record and reseller. Paddle collects your name, email address, billing address and payment details under its own privacy policy (paddle.com/legal/privacy). From Paddle we receive order information such as your name, email address, country, the amount paid and the transaction ID. We never receive your full payment card number.

Licenses

When you buy Pro (or we issue you a key), we create a license record in our database containing your email address, name and country (if provided), the license key, the order ID and amount, and the license status. We email you your key. We use these records to deliver and support your license, resend lost keys, prevent fraud, and keep business and tax records.

If you buy Pro inside a mobile app, Apple or Google processes the payment under their terms, and we receive confirmation of your purchase.

License activation

When you activate or check a Pro license, your browser sends the license key, an activation ID, and a device label (such as "Chrome on Mac") to our server, along with your IP address. We store the activation ID, device label and the dates it was created and last used, so we can enforce the device limit and let you manage activations. We use IP addresses briefly to rate-limit requests and prevent abuse. Right after a purchase, the app sends the payment's transaction ID to our server to fetch your new key, so Pro can be activated automatically.

Maps

The map shows tiles from OpenStreetMap. To load them, your browser requests tiles directly from OpenStreetMap's servers, which receive your IP address and the map area being displayed. That area may reveal where your recordings took place. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy. Other links in the Service (for example, "Google Maps") open third-party sites governed by their own policies.

Support

If you contact us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to send, including any files you attach.

3. How we use information

4. How information is shared

We share information with service providers that run the Service for us (Cloudflare for hosting, databases and analytics, Paddle for payments, and our email delivery provider for sending license keys), and with advertising partners as described above. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. We do not sell your camera footage.

Allowing advertising partners to collect information through cookies for personalized advertising may count as "selling" or "sharing" personal information, or "targeted advertising", under some U.S. state laws. See section 6 for how to opt out.

5. Retention

Data in your browser stays until you delete it. We keep license and activation records for as long as your license exists, and purchase records as required for tax, accounting and legal purposes (typically up to seven years). You can ask us to delete your license record, which ends the license. Server logs are kept for a limited time by our providers. Advertising partners keep data under their own policies.

6. Your choices and rights

Opting out of personalized ads ("Do Not Sell or Share")

You can opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising in any of these ways:

Buying Pro also removes ads entirely.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example California and other U.S. states, the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland), you may have the right to:

Most data the Service uses lives only in your browser, and you can delete it yourself. For anything we hold, such as purchase records, email support@cttapps.com. We may need to verify your request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. If you're in the EEA, UK or Switzerland, you may also complain to your local data protection authority.

Our legal bases for processing (EEA, UK and Switzerland) are performance of a contract (purchases and licenses), our legitimate interests (security, analytics and improving the Service), and your consent (personalized advertising, where required).

7. International transfers

We are based in the United States, and our providers may process information in the U.S. and other countries. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

8. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Security

We use reasonable measures to protect the information we handle, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your devices, drives, exported clips and backups secure.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, give additional notice in the Service.
